A champion of digital transformation for more than 20 years, Dr. Simeon Ananou is the Chief Information Officer for the University of Vermont where he reports to the President. In this capacity, he is responsible for all areas of Information Technology. Additionally, Ananou engages with the campus community to position IT as a strategic asset towards advancing the University’s goals.

Ananou is a frequent presenter at several national and international conferences on the role and the impact of Information Technology on higher education. He served as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership at the University of Albany and as an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Information and decision Sciences at Salisbury University. 

Prior to joining UVM, Ananou served as Vice President and CIO at the University of Albany, SUNY Chief Information Officer at Salisbury University, Associate Provost and Chief Information Officer at Slippery Rock University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Ohio State University, a Master of Business Administration from Baker College, and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration and Leadership from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He is also a graduate of Harvard University’s Institute of Educational Management program.
